Yearlings & Calves Available in 2012
Each year we offer a selection of steer calves and yearling heifers from a long line of cows that date back to the mid 50’s when the ranch was 100% Hereford. Through the decades the ranch has adapted to the changing markets by taking advantage of genetics to improve heterosis and performance. Today the ranch’s cow herd is nearly 50% Black Angus and the offspring produced are both black and red in color. Composite bulls from Leachman Cattle of Colorado and USDA Fort Keogh are used as well as a small number of sires from Reminisce Angus and Ludvigson Stock Farms.
All steer calves are EID - USDA Certified PVP & QSA through VERIFIED BEEF
All calves and yearlings are one-iron branded with the IX brand on the left rib.
All vaccine & parasite control serial numbers & administer dates are recorded.
All livestock are offered free-choice salt and mineral year-round.

Yearling Heifers
80% BA,BWF; 20% RA, RWF, HER, & CHAR. Fed grass/alfalfa hay all winter and turned to native and mountain range pasture in early spring. Early a.m. gather. Trailed 1 mile to ranch headquarters. Weighed with a 2% pencil shrink, sorted and loaded on buyers trucks.

Given Ralgro, Express 3 and Electroid 7 at branding. Ship approximately 270 head/day Oct 17, 18, & 20. Early a.m. gather from field adjacent to working corrals; weighed on ranch scale with 2% pencil shrink and loaded on buyers trucks by 11 a.m.

Weaned Steer Calves
60% BA & BWF 40% RA & RWF calves off our 2 year olds. They are given Ralgro, Express 3 and Electroid 7 at branding. Preconditioned 45 days. Given Express 3 and Electroid 7 at weaning on September 15th. Additional vaccine given at buyers expense. Fed grass hay and growing ration specifically developed by our nutritionist at Cenex Harvest States. Weighed on certified ranch scale with 2% pencil shrink. These calves were sired by composite bulls from Leachmans of Colorado & Fort Keogh - Miles City. All calves will be DNA tested

Bawling Steer Calves

These steer calves were born from April 20th through May 25th. They are the youngest of our calves and are run separately all summer on short grass breaks country. They are given Ralgro, Express 3 and Electroid 7 at branding in June. Cow-calf pairs are brought into the corrals from the adjacent pasture early am. Calves are sorted, sexed and loaded on buyers trucks. Weighed straight in Chinook, MT over certified truck scale.
